CANOGA PARK (CBS) — Police have found the two young children who were allegedly abducted by their father in a shooting Monday morning. The children's mother was shot in the head at the Sportsmen's Lodge in Studio City, police said.

Authorities discovered the children in Canoga Park, where they also arrested a suspect in the shooting. Police have not confirmed whether it was the children's father.

The shooting was first reported at 4:50 a.m. in a room at the hotel at 12833 Ventura Boulevard in Studio City.

Police say the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute between the woman and 27-year-old Michael Green.

Green fled the scene with the couple's two young children, 21-month-old Maaliyah and 6-month-old Zyler, officials said.

The victim, in her early 20s, was "in and out of consciousness" when she was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in very serious condition, officials said.

"She's been talking with us intermittently," said Sgt. Aaron Ponce of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. Monday authorities announced that they had apprehended a suspect in Canoga Park and placed the two young children in police custody.
