Teacher Removed For Allegedly 'Touching' Student At Wilmington-Area School

WILMINGTON (CBS) — An employee at a Wilmington-area elementary school has been removed from the classroom following accusations that he inappropriately touched a student.

Angry parents attended a meeting Monday morning about the incident at George De La Torre Junior Elementary School, however they were not told the teacher's name.

District officials previously met with parents on Friday.

"I heard from talking that it's a fourth-grade teacher. That's all I know. I heard a girl was abused so I assume a male teacher," parent Mike Mitchell told KNX 1070's John Brooks.

The unidentified teacher has not been arrested and is currently on paid administrative leave along with the school's principal, according to LAUSD officials.

Counselors were dispatched to the school Monday as police investigate the accusations.
