Teacher Removed For Allegedly ‘Touching’ Student At Wilmington-Area School

WILMINGTON (CBS) — An employee at a Wilmington-area elementary school has been removed from the classroom following accusations that he inappropriately touched a student.

Angry parents attended a meeting Monday morning about the incident at George De La Torre Junior Elementary School, however they were not told the teacher’s name.

District officials previously met with parents on Friday.

“I heard from talking that it’s a fourth-grade teacher. That’s all I know. I heard a girl was abused so I assume a male teacher,” parent Mike Mitchell told KNX 1070’s John Brooks.

The unidentified teacher has not been arrested and is currently on paid administrative leave along with the school’s principal, according to LAUSD officials.

Counselors were dispatched to the school Monday as police investigate the accusations.

I call B.S. on these “developed” stories. Someone’s in it for the $$$$!

Goodness gracious, LAUSD has more pedophiles than California state prison,

I bet some of these kids bring on these accusations because they hate their teacher. Kids are not entirely innocent. They are smart and know that if they claim that a teacher touched their leg that the teacher will get in trouble no matter what. All of a sudden all these accusations are coming out. I hate the teachers union but I have to say I think at least some teachers are innocent. Don’t be so quick to point the finger at a teacher until the child is investigated. The parents could be telling the kids to claim the teacher touched them. That way California will shower them with millions.

More coming out of the woodwork by the minute. Before the parents and mass hysteria is over there will not be a single teacher or administrator in a school and the district will be closed down because of all of the $$$$ paid out on all of these charges. It’s to the point where no adult should be within 10 feet of any child on a school campus. Shades of McMartin era hysteria here in my opinion.

LAUSD will try to sweep this under the rug or even legally maneuver out of this mess because this is bad for them. They don’t want to lose funding. Money talks…abusers walk…

By the way, how come they never investigate physical & emotional abuse that LAUSD staff commit on students?

Sometimes kids make things up. There’s so much attention and talk about this right now, it’s a safe bet the teacher scolded her or gave her a low grade and the victim got vindictive. Children can be evil. Many teachers have gone decades without a blip and suddenly they’re being yanked out of class and questioned by cops based on the hearsay of a single child. Of course this stuff happens but how’d you feel if it was you? Anyone can be wrongly accused and have his or her life ruined by this kind of thing when the climate is as hostile as it is right now. This isn’t like Mark Berndt, who has prior allegations and there’s plenty of evidence to support his arrest. This poor teacher isn’t even being questioned. He’s probably been outted by the district to justify firing teachers en mass do it can save $.to spend on more overpaid, nonessential non teachers. Give him Democracy. He’s innocent until proven guilty and he hasn’t even been arrested, or his name would be splattered all over this story.

By law, whenever a child claims that he/she was abused, an investigation has to be done to determine if the allegation(s) is/are substantiated or unfounded. child abuse is a serious crime because it affects the life of an innocent child.

You say that children can be evil? Children learn not by themselves but by the guidance, examples or influence of an adult. Children mimics and that is why it is important to provide a child with a safe surrounding.

Children are not evil. Adults are.

How can we not expect this from a school with the name “De La Torre”. Especially in an area as ghetto as Wilmington. If the parents really cared about their kids they would stop popping out babies that they can’t afford and start moving to nice areas like Burbank, Arcadia, Walnut etc. I have no sympathy for these parents. How anyone can let their child go to a school in Wilmington, South LA etc is beyond me. Most of these parents take NO precautions nor care about the quality of education of their kids but they sure know how to whine whine whine AFTER their child gets molested. When your teacher or babysitter spends more time with your kids then you do you have a MAJOR problem…comprende?

AGREE 110% AMY – IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO PARENTING. MOST BLACK AND HISPANIC PARENTS DON’T TAKE THE EDUCATION OF THEIR KIDS SERIOUSLY. I’M HALF WHITE AND HALF HISPANIC – ON MY HISPANIC SIDE EVERYONE STARTED COMMUNITY COLLEGE BUT NEVER EVEN RECEIVED AN AA OR AS – AS LONG AS THEY HAVE THE MONTHLY RENT, UTILITIES AND FOOD THEY DON’T TRY TO BETTER THEMSELVES NOR THEIR LIVES (YES THEY HAVE TONS OF BABIES THEY CAN’T AFFORD) AND ON MY WHITE SIDE MOST OF THE FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE MASTERS AND DOCTORATES PLUS TONS OF MONEY IN 401K’S ETC. JUST BEING TOTALLY HONEST.
