Virginia Ramirez of Pacoima was struck around 6:30 a.m. near Glenoaks Boulevard and Mercer Street, said Officer Bruce Borihanh of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Ramirez was crossing the street in an unmarked crosswalk when the first collision occurred, Borihanh said.

"A Hispanic male got out of his car and looked at the victim in the street then got back into the vehicle and drove away," Borihanh said in a statement.

A witness told police that suspect's vehicle was a bright red pickup truck, possibly a Nissan Frontier.

A second vehicle, described as a white Chevrolet Monte Carlo, crashed into the same victim after she was down in the roadway, Borihanh said. The second driver, described only as a female, also failed to stop and give assistance.

Police urged anyone with information regarding these hit-and-run drivers to contact Officer Jennifer Ward of the Valley Traffic Division at (818) 644-8114 or 1-877-LAPD-24-7.
