Man Taken Into Custody At LAX After Acting 'Suspiciously' On American Airlines Flight

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — An American Airlines passenger who was allegedly acting "suspiciously" was taken into custody Friday when the 757 jetliner landed at Los Angeles International Airport on a flight from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

Flight 2401 arrived at LAX at 7:45 a.m. with 139 passengers aboard, and the man was taken into custody by FBI agents, according to American Airlines spokesman Ed Martelle.

Martelle said the passenger was "acting suspiciously," but the flight was never in danger.

"At no time did he shout or make threats," Martelle said. "He had no explosives. He was compliant."

The man, whose name was withheld, was taken into custody for a mental evaluation, said FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller.
