Lakers Trade Fisher To Houston For Jordan Hill; Get Sessions, Eyenaga From Cleveland

LOS ANGELES (CBS) -The Los Angeles Lakers have shipped out veteran point guard Derek Fisher to the Houston Rockets along with a first-round pick via Dallas for power forward Jordan Hill.

In a separate deal, the Lakers have also acquired point guard Ramon Sessions and Christian Eyenga of the Cleveland Cavaliers for Luke Walton, Jason Kapono and 2012 first-round draft pick(lottery protected).

"We think Ramon will make an immediate impact," Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said. "Despite Derek's presence, we felt that we needed more speed and more quickness in the backcourt. ... We didn't feel that we could get a better or more talented player than Sessions with a first-round draft pick in the 20s."

Sessions, 25, has played in all 41 games for the Cavs and averaging 10.5 points, 5.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game.

Lakers, who have been searching for point guards all season long, plan to share the starting role with Sessions and Steve Blake.

Sessions is making $4.2 million this year and plans to make $4.5 next season.

Sessions agent, Jared Karnes said, "Ramon is excited and honored to join an organization so rich in tradition, talent, and success. He is ready to go to work."

Walton, who has battled back injuries all year, will end his 8-year run with the Los Angeles Lakers with two NBA titles.

The NBA trading deadline was at noon PST Thursday.
