'Snowboarder Bandit' Changes Look, Strikes Again In Orange County

ANAHEIM HILLS (CBS) — The FBI says the "snowboarder bandit" has ditched his mountain man look for a more elusive ensemble.

The bank robbery suspect normally wears a beanie and sunglasses but was recently seen sporting a motorcycle helmet and black blazer as he robbed Schools First Credit Union Monday night, which FBI agents said he held up three weeks ago. It's the ninth time since December that this unidentified suspect has robbed a bank in Orange County. He typically passes a note to a bank teller indicating that he wants cash and has a gun.

So, why the new look?

"I'm speculating that he maybe saw a picture of himself online, in the paper, on TV...and maybe that's why he's changed things up because he's seen that we've linked him together," FBI agent Chris Gicking said.

The snowboarder bandit is currently at the top of Orange County's most wanted bank robber list.

The tall, young bandit with reddish-blond hair has made off with thousands of dollars.

"We speculate that he's got to have either a drug habit or a gambling habit, something like that he's supporting," said Gicking, adding, "It typically doesn't mean that he's trying to make ends meet, as far as a rent is concerned. We'll know more when we catch him."

Authorities are asking anyone with information to please contact police.
