Long Beach State To Be Without Anderson In Tournament

LONG BEACH  (AP) — Long Beach State guard Larry Anderson is doubtful to play in this week's Big West tournament after spraining his right knee in a weekend loss.

Anderson was hurt early in the second half of the 49ers' 77-74 loss at Cal State Fullerton and didn't return. It was the 49ers' first league loss of the season.

The school says Anderson saw doctors on Monday and they said his prognosis is good for a return the following week for the NCAA tournament's second and third rounds.

The senior guard was named to the All-Big West first team Monday and was chosen as the defensive player of the year in a vote of the league's coaches.
