1 Dead, 2 Critically Wounded In Crash On The 405

MISSION HILLS (CBS) —  A woman was killed and four other people were injured, two critically, in a crash on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Mission Hills, a city fire official said.

The crash was reported at 7 p.m. on the northbound 405 near San Fernando Mission Boulevard, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

At least one person was trapped inside a vehicle after the crash, Scott said.

Once rescue was complete, four people were taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, two in critical condition. Scott said two others had serious injuries.

The female was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash was unknown.

Northbound lanes on the 405 were closed near San Fernando Mission Boulevard during the rescue and subsequent investigation.
