One Injured In South LA House Fire

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A fire damaged a commercial building in South Los Angeles Friday, and one person was injured, authorities said.

Firefighters sent to the 1000 block of East Vernon Avenue shortly before 6 a.m. extinguished the fire in the one-story building in 32 minutes, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Some firefighters remained on scene to douse hot spots.

A woman was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The cause of the fire was under investigation. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
