Dog Dies, Man Seriously Hurt In Fall From Corona Del Mar Cliff

NEWPORT BEACH (CBS) —  A man was seriously hurt and his dog killed Friday in a fall from the rocks at Pirate’s Cove in Corona Del Mar.

The man, whose age and name were not released, was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana in serious condition, said Jennifer Schulz of the Newport Beach Fire Department.

The man had been walking with the dog when they both lost their footing and fell about 35 feet to the beach about 6:45 a.m., Schulz said.

Firefighters had to use a Harbor Patrol boat to get to the man, who was hospitalized at Western Medical Center, she said.

Poor man will feel terrible for the rest of his life. I hope he forgives himself, knowing that accidents happen. His dog will love him forever, and vice versa. And I hope this man makes a full recovery and finds it in his heart to adopt another dog in need of a home. Get well soon!
