Search Continues For Bank Robber Who Shot Chino Police Officer

CHINO (CBS) — Authorities are still searching for the gunman who injured a Chino police officer after a botched bank robbery Wednesday afternoon.

The robber engaged in a shootout with the officer, who was patrolling the neighborhood when the suspect fled a California Bank & Trust branch.

The officer drove himself to Chino Valley Hospital, where Mike Armijo saw him stumble out of his patrol car, which was hit several times.

"I told him, 'The doctors are coming, just relax,'" Armijo told CBS2.

Police say the robber was driving a dark gray Nissan Altima. He's believed to be in his thirties or forties, KNX 1070's John Brooks reports.
