LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, is teaming up with the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health to encourage students to utilize mental health services.
The Los Angeles Laker, who famously struggled with depression and other mental health issues, will visit the Edward Roybal Learning Center Thursday to share his story of hope, wellness and recovery.
Metta World Peace will discuss services available to students, including LACDMH’s 24/7 ACCESS hotline (800-854-7771). He will also talk about the on-site mental health counseling provided by LAUSD for its students.
