LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Conservative commentator and media publisher Andrew Breitbart has died at the age of 43.

Breitbart’s publicist, Joel Pollack, says he collapsed while walking near his Brentwood home. A passerby called 911 and Breitbart was transported via ambulance to UCLA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Breitbart’s Web site, bigjournalism.com, announced that he died of natural causes:

With a terrible feeling of pain and loss we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart.

Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.

We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.

Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.

Andrew recently wrote a new conclusion to his book, Righteous Indignation:

“I love my job. I love fighting for what I believe in. I love having fun while doing it. I love reporting stories that the Complex refuses to report. I love fighting back, I love finding allies, and-famously-I enjoy making enemies. Three years ago, I was mostly a behind-the-scenes guy who linked to stuff on a very popular website. I always wondered what it would be like to enter the public realm to fight for what I believe in. I’ve lost friends, perhaps dozens. But I’ve gained hundreds, thousands-who knows?-of allies. At the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror, and I sleep very well at night.”

Andrew is at rest, yet the happy warrior lives on, in each of us.

Breitbart was behind investigations that led to the resignations of former Rep. Anthony Weiner and former Agriculture Department official Shirley Sherrod.

Hopefully he choked on his words of hate!

    1. Smokey says:

Oh Jessica……you must be one of those compassionate liberals…you know the ones who always are so open and understanding. The ones who believe in freedom of speech, who believe in the rights of others, as long as their opinions are the same as theirs.

      1. Hardmoney says:

        Smokey, very well said.

      2. CandyO says:

Having freedom of speech does NOT mean that one has the freedom to commit libel or slander.

      3. Smokey says:

No slander or Libel by Andrew…he just broke the stories, like ….Weinergate.

      4. Alpha Kenny Juan says:

Breitbart took Shirley Sherrod’s words out of context and caused her to be fired. Later, when the full transcript of her speech was released, Sherrod was vindicated. I admire serious journalism, not hate speech, whether it’s from the right wing or the left wing. Breitbart slandered Shirley Sherrod; that’s not something a respectable journalist would do.

      5. John says:

The Sherrod thing was unfortunate. Weiner got exactly what he deserved and no sensible person could deny it. That, at least, was a fine piece of investigative journalism. Either way, a man dropping dead at 43 of any kind of natural causes is a tragedy and I feel bad for his family.

I can’t even get a job. That’s because that aS$hole lawyer Robert Hale from Hale and Nguyen in Brea couldn’t help me with my case. Now I’m a bitter aS$puck that has a beef with law enforcement and everybody on the internet. I used multiple screen names like [GROW..APAIR], [wg//af], [up//yours], [Mike in San Diego], [Mike in Upland], [1stman] and [kma] so no one can track me down. I challenge people to meet me in front of the Fullerton P.D. station for my protection. I’m such a puS$y dumbf**k with nothing to say I post to myself copying sentences from everyone, especially GROWAPAIR, who knows I’m a ball sniffing loser.

I’ll use your screen name next, puS$y d!cklips.

Pay attention to me when I hijack screen names to show I’m a whiny puS$y dumbf**k loser. It makes my ass pucker with joy when people think I’m GROWAPAIR and my daddy’s balls like it when my ass puckers..
