IHOP To Give Away Free Flapjacks On National Pancake Day

HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — IHOP locations across the Southland will be giving away free pancakes to customers who make a donation to the Children's Miracle Network on National Pancake Day.

Any contribution made between 7 a.m. to a 10 p.m. Tuesday will benefit Children's Hospital Los Angeles and get you a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes.

Miss America Laura Kaeppeler will be busy flipping flapjacks all day at the IHOP in Hollywood.

"You have to have the grill at 350 degrees," Kaeppeler, the goodwill ambassador for Children's Miracle Network hospitals, told CBS2. "You have to leave the pancakes sitting for about two minutes, and if you're at home making them, you have to make the batter with cold water and that will make the perfect pancake. "

IHOP hopes to raise $2.7 million this year, which would bring the total amount of funds raised over the years to $10 million.
