Highland Open, Hollywood Boulevard Still Closed For Oscars Cleanup Effort

HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — The party may be over on Monday, but for crews cleaning up  the streets after the Academy Awards, the show is just getting started.

KNX 1070's John Brooks reports the street closures in the heart of Hollywood weren't enough to keep some fans even saw a few glimpses of Oscar gold.

Highland Avenue was reopened to traffic but Hollywood Boulevard remains closed right in front of the Hollywood & Highland Center this morning after the 84th annual Academy Awards on Sunday night.

Crews were still removing bleachers and other setups from the street as diehard fans braved the chilly weather to see their favorite stars as limousines pulled away from the Governor's Ball, the Academy Awards' official after-party at the Hollywood & Highland Center.

One fan was thrilled to see Best Actress winner Meryl Streep upon her exit from the festivities.

"Meryl came out and everybody cheered, and you knew right away she was there," he said. "A little shiver through your spine."

The Oscars mark the end of awards season in Hollywood.
