Actress Sean Young, 9 Others Arrested At Academy Awards

LOS ANGELES (CBS) —Actress Sean Young was among seven people arrested for suspicion of committing misdemeanors before and after the  Academy Awards ceremony while four arrests were made for suspicion of committing felonies,  police said Monday.

Three of the felony arrests were for suspicion of fraudulent use of credentials -- primarily phony press passes -- and one because a person tried to snatch a purse near the red carpet, said Sgt. Mitzi Fierro of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

Young spent about five hours in LAPD custody Sunday and early today after being placed under citizen's arrest for alleged battery during an altercation at the post-ceremony Governors Ball, police said.

Young, 52, was released at 2:55 a.m. today after posting $20,000 bail, said Sgt. Enrique Mendoza of the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station.

The celebrity news website TMZ.com reported that Young got into a dispute with a security guard at the official Oscar after-party held at the Hollywood & Highland Center.

She was arrested at 9:25 p.m. Sunday and booked into the Hollywood jail at 11:39 p.m. on suspicion of misdemeanor battery, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department website.

Young was given a March 19 court date, although Mendoza said it would be up to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office to decide whether to file charges.

Her film credits include "Stripes" (1981), "Blade Runner" (1982) and "No Way Out" (1987). She appeared on the CBS daytime drama "The Young and the Restless" (2010-2011) and has four films due to be released this year, according to the Internet Movie Database.   The other misdemeanor arrests were for suspicion of trespassing, Fierro said.
