San Bernardino County firefighters were dispatched to a two-alarm at the Totem Pole Mobile Home Park about 4:57 a.m. in the 12700 block of Mariposa Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters began an aggressive fight against the blaze, which had engulfed one mobile home.

That home was a complete loss, along with three cars.

Firefighters were able to save a second home, authorities said in a statement.

The burn victim, identified only as a 54-year-old male, was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

According to firefighters, he had tried to contain the blaze prior to their arrival. No one else was injured.

The cause of the fire, which had apparently started on a front porch, was not immediately known.

An investigation is ongoing.
