CORONA DEL MAR (CBS) — A Corona del Mar man is saying goodbye to six pet chickens this weekend after losing his fight with city hall.

Michael Resk held a two day send-off for the chickens, known as “The Goldenrod 6.”

“I haven’t really told them that they are leaving quite yet,” Resk told KNX 1070’s Mike Landa earlier Saturday. “I figure it’s easier if they don’t know… it’s sorta like with children. You don’t always tell them they’re going to the doctor until they are out of the car.”

The hens — Red, Tiny, Whitey, Flatty, Blackie and Blondie — were expected to be picked up about 3 p.m. Saturday and taken by limousine to their new home.

One of Resk’s neighbors reportedly complained about the noise six chickens can make prompting his having to give them up.

Richard Moriarty, owner of Newport Beach Vineyard and Winery, adopted all six.

The chickens became famous after receiving eviction notices from the city.

What a lousy neighbor. Chickens do not make that much noise and go to roast after dusk. I could understand, maybe, if a rooster was crowing at dawn but not chickens. Man, what a rotten lousy neighbor.

Too bad Mr. Resk needed to blame the neighbor for his shortcomings. He already had a plan in place. He moved out as well today. Sorry about your daughter not being able to take over the residence. Six noisy chickens and one screaming child is over the top. Thank God is all I can say!

Most laws the cities pass are sane and make sense, but chickens don’t make that much noise in their natural environment. I raised chickens when I was in Hill county, Texas, and this makes no sense. Dogs back in the day, made much noise, compared to the farm animals I had on my residence.

If it were me, I’d put speakers outside my house aimed at my snoop[y complaining neighbor and play rap music from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, or until they blew their brains out!
