Youth Soccer Coach Pleads Not Guilty To Sex Charges Involving Player

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A Southern California youth soccer coach has been charged with several felony sex-related counts involving a 15-year-old male player.

Javier Arrioja, 48, a coach of a private youth soccer club for boys under 17, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to four counts of lewd acts upon a child .

The charges stem from allegations from a 15-year-old player who told Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies that he was touched inappropriately at an East LA park and at Arrioja's home. The alleged crimes took place between May and November of 2011, officials said.

A second alleged teenage victim was also identified later, but charges relating to that incident have not been filed.

Arrioja was arrested Friday and is being held on $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to be back in court on March 5.
