LAUSD Athletic Assistant Arrested For Allegedly Having Sex With Girl, 16

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Yet another LAUSD employee has been arrested in the growing district-wide sex crimes investigation.

Jose Rosario Alvarez, 27, is accused of having unlawful sex with a 16-year-old girl.

Alvarez, an athletic assistant at Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley, is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center on $20,000 bail.

The victim has been identified as a student at another school within the LAUSD, which says it will not allow Alvarez to have any future contact with students.

LAUSD superintendent John Deasy says the district will report all teacher misconduct to the state credentialing commission.

He has also ordered his staff to vigorously scan teacher records from the past four years to uncover any additional misconduct.
