This is a scam. Someone stands to make money off this. Beck’s friends or relatives or a special interest (Business partner) are doing this to put extra money in their pocket.

By Chief Beck’s logic then, we ought to stop the war on drugs because we’ve been doing it way longer than the 16 yrs mentioned in this article. Nothing has changed. There has not been a reduction in drug use. Maybe it’s time Chief Beck comes up with a new solution to that problem, too.

Are the QUALIFICATIONS according to the DMV identical? A provisional right to drive an automobile. What does that mean? Actually sorry, but the requirements to drive would have to be identifcal.

Beck must be looking to run for public office in the near future. While the politicians continue to pander to illegals, this once great state will fall to bankruptcy. First thing illegals do after they arrive here is have baby after baby after baby raised and educated on taxpayer dollars. Then they have their side cash business, food venders all over the streets, sending our cash south of the border. Freeways and streets are always clogged, you’re stopping at every cross walk and now here he goes again pushing for driver licenses for illegals. Continue to ‘welcome’ the illegals and all of their American born children and driving down the price of homes in what once was a middle class neighborhood.

How is a license going to keep you from a hit and run ?

I rather get hit by someone with a license and car insurance than a hit and run,this is a great idea that will save a lot of lives and will force people to pass a driving test and carry insurance

They didn’t impound the woman’s car who killed 3 people. So she has a friend drive it home and she drives again. The man who drove without a license would still have killed someone if he had a license. Is Beck brain-dead? He’s the Chief. God help us. Also they’re illegal ALIENS. How about taking them to the border and kicking them out instantly.

Why not give them licenses? No one wants to do anything substantive about illegal immigration, so make them pass the test, pay the fees, etc., and have registered and insured cars. Then enforce the unlicensed driver laws across the board. As for a police chief making money from people in CA getting driver’s licenses, I’d like to see an explanation how that would be.
