Man Fatally Shot Next To His Car In Bell Gardens

BELL GARDENS (CBS) —  A man was shot and killed Friday evening next to his car in Bell Gardens.

The fatal shooting occurred around 6 p.m. in the 6000 block of Quinn Street, between Eastern and Garfield avenues, said Lt. Christopher Hubner of the Bell Gardens Police Department.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to sheriff's officials.

The motive for the shooting was unknown.

Reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, Suraya Fadel said police were being tight-lipped on the crime. They refused to say whether the shooting might have been gang-related.

Neighbors of the building outside the shooting were kept from coming and going while the investigation into the shooting continued.

Police told Fadel it might be 4-5 hours more before they are allowed to go back to their apartments.
