Teacher's Aide Arrested After Her Daughter, 12, Reportedly Found Naked, Eating Out Of Trash In Temecula

TEMECULA (CBS) — An elementary school teacher's aide was arrested Thursday after authorities say her 12-year-old daughter was found abandoned, naked and eating out of the trash near the school where her mother works.

Tracy Lynn Betts, 40, was released from a Murrieta jail Friday on $15,000 bond, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The day before, sheriff's deputies were called by residents near Veil Elementary School who said they saw a naked girl scouring trash bins in the area. Deputies arrived to find the child sitting abandoned and famished in a car. After questioning the girl, they learned that her mother was working at the school. Betts was arrested shortly thereafter.

The child was taken to a hospital for treatment and placed in the care of Riverside County Child Protective Services.
