Survive This Economy: Keeping Pet Costs Down

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Pet adoptions were up 25% last year, according to the SPCA - LA, but at the same time they've also taken in more animals because families have lost jobs and homes.

Sibila Vargas, reporting for CBS2, showed us cost-saving tips for surviving this economy (supermarket brands of pet foods are fine if your pet likes them!) and keeping our furry friends in the fold.

She also found several pet bargains.

During February, the SPCA's Speciality Spay / Neuter Center is spaying cats for just $20.

The Center Sinai Animal Hospital in West Los Angeles (10737 Venice Boulevard, LA 90034)  is offering discounts on spay and neuter services (as well as dental services) on certain days of the week. For a link to the hospital, click here.
