Arraignment Postponed For Miramonte Elementary Teacher Accused Of Fondling Student
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The arraignment for former Miramonte Elementary School teacher Martin Springer was postponed Thursday.
A new arraignment date has been set for sometime in April.
Springer, 49, pleaded not guilty to three counts of lewd acts upon a child. His charges stem from allegedly fondling a former female student between April and June of 2009.
Springer was fired in February a special Los Angeles Unified School Board meeting. He has 30 days to repeal the board's unanimous decision, according to the district.
The defendant's bail was initially placed at $2 million, but prosecutors had it adjusted to $300,000.
Springer is free on bail, but isn't allowed to be within 250 feet of a school or park.
