DANA POINT (CBS) — Authorities say alcohol was a factor in a car crash that claimed the lives of three marines who were stationed at Camp Pendleton.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department says a vehicle carrying the three marines hit a tree on Golden Lantern near Terra Vista early Tuesday morning.

The car’s driver was the sole survivor of the crash. He remains in critical condition.

The victims’ names will not be release until their families have been notified.

    And the driver lives…

Why do the drunk drivers that get into accidents always seem to survive while the innocents die?

The 3 dead passengers were as guilty as the drunk driver. Everyone in the car was drunk, and if there was a passenger in the car that wasn’t intoxicated, then he should of been the designated driver. Nobody is innocent in this case. Thankfully there were no actual innocent victims struck by these reckless individuals. I feel sorry for the tree that was struck, more.
