OC Girl, 13, Forgives Driver After Alleged Hit-And-Run In Santa Ana

SANTA ANA (CBS) — A Fountain Valley man may have to face justice after his arrest on suspicion of hit-and-run driving, but he won't have to worry about asking his victim for forgiveness.

KNX 1070's Mike Landa reports Arif Sattar, 65, is free on bail Wednesday after facing charges of running over 13-year-old Teresa Pham.

Pham was riding her bicycle on Feb. 6 at the intersection of Warner Avenue and Greenville Street in Santa Ana when Sattar allegedly struck her with his vehicle.

She was released from the pediatric intensive care unit at Western Medical Center and is currently at home nursing her injuries, which include a number of broken bones in her right leg.

"I'm doing great, I feel the way I was before I got hit by the car," Pham said.

And despite her pain and suffering, she holds no ill will towards Sattar.

"My teacher taught me better not to be mad at people for a long time 'cause you have a future ahead of you, why waste it on being mad at someone?" she said. "Just forgive them."

Relatives of the suspect saw the story reported on a local news station and convinced Sattar to surrender.
