Ali, Jenner, Retton Appear On Retro Wheaties Boxes

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Muhammad Ali, Bruce Jenner and Mary Lou Retton are appearing on new Wheaties boxes featuring retro images of the Olympic champions.

Jenner and Retton were in Downtown LA Wednesday for the unveiling of their special boxes.

The limited-edition retro Wheaties boxes will be available on cereal shelves across the country, beginning this month.

Wheaties marketing manager Betsy Frost says fans have been asking for the trio to be featured on cereal boxes again.

According to a spokesperson for Wheaties, these world champions know peak performance requires the right balance of nutrition, and long-lasting energy is a must. For the last 85 years, Wheaties has been committed to providing athletes with balanced nutrition and long-lasting energy from 100% whole grain flakes to help them perform at their optimum level.

Ali won a gold medal in boxing at the 1960 Rome Olympics; Jenner was the decathlon champion at the 1976 Montreal Games; and Retton won the all-around gold at the 1984 Los Angeles Games.
