LOS ALAMITOS (CBS) — Nearly 150 California Army National Guard soldiers are scheduled to deploy from the Joint Training Base in Los Alamitos Thursday.

The 140th Chemical Company will leave the airfield at the base in order to participate in training at Camp Shelby in Mississippi before heading to Kuwait. The public is invited to attend (11200 Lexington Drive in Los Alamitos.)

The departure ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m.

The unit will conduct security operations on U.S. military installations during its overseas mission.
