SAN CLEMENTE (CBS) — A suspect was wounded as a result of a deputy involved shooting early Tuesday morning outside an Orange County High School.
The shooting occurred in the 700 block of East Avenida Pico in San Clemente, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Officials say an deputy initiated a traffic stop around 4:40 a.m. for unknown reasons. The suspect pulled his vehicle into the San Clemente High School parking lot where the deputy opened fire.
The suspect was hit and taken to Mission Hospital in an unknown condition.
Officials did not say what provoked the shooting and it is under investigation.
The deputy was not injured.
School officials say classes will take place as scheduled at San Clemente High on Tuesday.
