Keep Your Wallet Fat With These Internet Freebies

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The current economy has left people looking for ways to save money any way they can.

Although freebies are hard to come by, CBS2's Sibila Vargas spoke to consumer advocate Michella Ashamalla who says they're easy to find if you know where to look.

She says there are a lot of free goodies out there that people don't know about and are just a mouse click away.

Looking for free Wi-Fi hot spots in your area? Check out WiFiFreeSpot.com to get a full directory.

Many people often spend a pretty penny on computer repair services, but look no further.

Protonic.com provides free computer solutions.  All you have to do is submit your questions and a volunteer expert will promptly respond.

Looking for new accessories, but don't want to spend the money? Go to FreeShades.com for the latest in eyewear.

FreeJewelry.com also provides shoppers with free accessories like cubic zirconia rings, sterling silver necklaces, and studded earrings. The site even has a replica of Princess Kate Middleton's engagement ring.

So what's the catch? These companies among others are looking to attract users with free items so they will eventually return to the online store to make future purchases.

"There are a lot of things that companies or organizations do just give away to let you try their product or service," Ashamalla said.

Whether you're searching for free stuff or looking to save a dime, these freebies and more might help keep cash in your wallet.
