68-Year-Old Driver Detained Following Fatal Hit-And-Run In Valencia
VALENCIA (CBS) — A 68-year-old man was in custody Saturday following a fatal hit-and-run crash in Valencia.
The accident on Orchard Village Road at or near Dalbey Drive occurred about 6 p.m. Friday, sheriff's Sgt. Joe Efflandt said.
According to authorities, the vehicle was traveling southbound when it struck a woman walking along the curb.
The driver, who fled the scene, was stopped nearby by deputies, Efflandt said, adding that the car's front-end showed damage.
The driver was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, according to authorities.
"What he is ultimately charged with is up to the District Attorney's Office," Efflandt said.
The name of the victim has not been released. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
