STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Are you planning to grill up some burgers for the big game? The crew from Islands Restaurant stopped by KCAL9 Friday to share their tips to make the best beach-inspired burgers for the Super Bowl!

Islands’ Must-Haves:

Hot Grill – start off with a hot grill that is well seasoned with a light cooking oil.
Season meat on the grill – the spices are absorbed more easily and the burger will be more flavorful.
Don’t press burger on grill – this will keep the juices in and keep the patty moist!
Cheese – placement and timing are important; after the “flip,” and heat long enough for the cheese to relax at the tips.
Toast the bun – gives flavor/texture so the bun doesn’t absorb the condiments and get soggy.
Dressing the buns; Islands likes a generous amount of dressing (sauce – mayonnaise/mustard/chipotle-aioli, etc.) – should cover the bun – “coast to coast”
Build is important – condiment on bottom bun, lettuce/tomato/onion, meat, cheese/bacon/etc./condiment on top bun
Proper Cooking – is essential – best to 155 or higher to ensure a safe eating experience.
