SANTA ANA (CBS) — An Orange County woman accused of cutting off her husband’s penis pleaded not guilty Friday.

Catherine Kieu was indicted on charges of torture and aggravated mayhem.

Prosecutors say the woman and her husband had an argument in July 2010 at their Garden Grove home.

When he fell asleep that night, authorities say, she tied him up and then woke him up and cut off his genitals with kitchen knife.

After allegedly throwing the body parts in the garbage disposal, the 48-year-old woman called 911, according to authorities.

If convicted, Kieu could face life in prison.

She’s being held on $1 million bail.
