Naked Man Arrested In Stabbing Deaths Of Mother, Daughter In Torrance

TORRANCE (CBS) — A naked man was arrested Sunday night in the stabbing deaths of a mother and daughter in Torrance.

Virgil Tyrone Tate, 30, is suspected of killing 58-year-old Suzy Brooks and her daughter, Tracie, 32, and injuring another man at an apartment complex in the 21800 block of South Vermont Avenue.

The male victim, who is expected to survive, came running outside and directed officials to the suspect, who apparently lived with the three victims.

"The deputies made entry into the house and found one victim lying on the floor with stab wounds and the suspect barricaded himself in a back rear room of the residence," Lt. Holly Francisco said. "The Special Enforcement Bureau deputies responded and were able to force entry into that room and detain the suspect. They also found a second victim that was on the floor with stab wounds. Both of those victims were pronounced dead at the scene."

Detectives, who are still processing evidence, say they aren't sure if they've recovered the knife that was used in the crimes.

They say the third victim is expected to survive.
