Coroner Identifies Whittier Youth, 17, Fatally Shot Near Pico Rivera
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A Coroner's lieutenant identified a 17-year- old boy who was found shot dead in an alley in the unincorporated Los Nietos area east of Pico Rivera.
The boy was identified as a Whittier resident, Gustavo Sanchez Garcia, said Coroner's Lt. Larry Dietz.
Garcia was found in the 8300 block of Norwalk Boulevard around 10:15 p.m. Thursday by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responding to reports of a possible assault with a deadly weapon, said Lt. Brian Yanagi of the sheriff's Pico Rivera Station. The teenager had a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies are looking for a male suspect who wore gang-type attire and left the scene in a dark gray compact, possibly a Nissan, said sheriff's Deputy Benjamin Grubb.
