TSA's New Program To Speed Up Security Checks For Some Passengers At LAX
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — American Airlines passengers willing to volunteer personal information can now be steered through the fast lane at LAX thanks to the Transportation Security Administration's new pre-check program.
Participants must voluntarily agree to provide personal information and submit to background checks. In return, those travelers are allowed to wear their shoes, belts and coast while bypassing a series of TSA screening measures.
The free program, which is being tested at several airports, aims to speed up the screening process for frequent fliers while reducing long waits for other travelers.
LAX is the sixth airport to join the program since it launched in October.
