Dog Walkers Stumble Upon Human Head In Hollywood Hills

HOLLYWOOD HILLS (CBS) — Authorities say a human head was found near a popular hiking trail in the Hollywood Hills.

The discovery was made 2:30 p.m. Tuesday by dog walkers after two of their nine dogs started playing with the head, which was wrapped in a plastic bag.

Police say the body part was located above Bronson Canyon, near Canyon Drive and Brush Fire Road, police reported.

Sky2 was reporting overhead Tuesday afternoon, where people could be seen walking their dogs and driving by the crime scene.

Later that evening investigators closed off the trail while they launched a homicide investigation and scanned the area for additional body parts.

They suspended their search upon nightfall and said they'd resume early Wednesday morning.

No further details were released.
