ANAHEIM (CBS) — A vigil was held Saturday night for homeless Vietnam veteran John Barry at the murder scene where his body was found.
Barry was the fourth homeless man killed in Orange County since December 20. Known to friends as John, he was a well known and well liked fixture in Anaheim.
“We are extremely confident that we have the man who is responsible for the murders of all four homeless men in Orange County,” said Chief John Welter of the Anaheim Police Department.
Police credit two witnesses for chasing down the suspected killer identified by authorities as Itzcoatl Ocampo.
Police have requested that Ocampo, who is behind bars, be charged with all four murders. The 23-year-old is a marine who was having trouble finding a job.
He lived with his mother in a rental property in Yorba Linda where police executed a search warrant this weekend.
