LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A 30-year-old Samoan man was gunned down in South Los Angeles and police were on the hunt for the suspect.
The shooting in the 900 block of East 87th Street near Central Avenue was reported about 1:40 a.m. Saturday, according to the Los Angeles police watch commander at the Southeast Station.
Upon arrival, officers found the injured victim, who was shot six times. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect, described as a Hispanic male, is believed to be in his 20s. According to police, he fled the scene on foot but it wasn’t clear in what direction.
Police are not sure if the attack was at all gang-related. An investigation is under way.
