El Camino Soccer Team Plays 1st Game Without Their Slain Star

RESEDA (CBS) — Students at El Camino Real High School rallied together Friday at the first soccer game since the slaying of the team's star goalie who was murdered this week.

Emotions were raw as teammates remembered 17-year-old Francisco "Pancho" Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, who was lured out of his home Cozycroft Avenue in Winnetka, was shot to death Wednesday.

Players wore black armbands as a tribute to Rodriguez and the game was stopped for a 26-second moment of silence in honor of the teen's jersey number.

"Our hearts go out to the family of the victim and you know he's in our prayers and we just came here to support," Francisco Guzman, a student, told CBS2.

"He was great and we know he was one of the best that there was," another student said.

Police do not have a motive or suspect at this time.
