Crews Put Out Spot Fires Along 5 Freeway In Sun Valley

SUN VALLEY (CBS) — It took about 30 firefighters 52 minutes to knock down several small spot fires along the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Sun Valley.

Crews were dispatched to the location near Penrose Street at 7:47 a.m. Saturday, according to officials.

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported, Brian Humphrey with the LAFD tweeted.

According to City News Service, the California Highway Patrol closed all northbound lanes of the freeway near Penrose while crews battled the fires.

A knock down was declared about about 9:30 a.m., according to Humphrey.
