SAN FERNANDO (CBS) — A series of small earthquakes jolted the Southland on Friday but failed to cause any reports of damage or injuries.
Two separate quakes as powerful as M2.7 struck four miles northwest of San Fernando just before 8 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
A third, smaller quake measuring 1.8 magnitude about a half-hour later at 8:30 a.m. about four miles southeast of Newhall.
The USGS notes as many as 22 small earthquakes have been recorded in the Los Angeles area since Jan. 6.
