LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a 17-year-old old El Camino Real High School student.

Francisco Rodriguez, 17, was shot to death Wednesday night in front of his home on Cozycroft Avenue in Winnetka.

A soccer teammate had just dropped the goalie off at his house after a game when a female reportedly came to the house and asked Rodriguez to come outside.

He was then shot three times before the suspect or suspects fled.

Authorities, who have not released a suspect or vehicle description, are asking for the public’s help in finding Rodriguez’s killer.

Teammates say there are no known rivalries with the Taft High School soccer team, which they tied during Wednesday night’s match.

“I loved him. I truly loved him. Got to know him… he was a great kid. He meant well, ” Ian Kogan, the team’s coach, told CBS2.

My thoughts are with his family and friends. Another senseless murder. There is never a valid reason for actions like this.

This was horrible. But, sad to say, such things rarely happen in a vacuum. Especially when it was a teenage girl doing the shooting.

  • Joel Lanuza

Very Sad. They will get caught soon its small world out there. To bad that wont bring him back.

Isn’t it time we stopped placing such importance on sports? It’s just a game. Terrible things happen in the name of sports.

    • James

Are you really that senseless? I HIGHLY doubt this had anything to do with sports. And especially not if a girl is suspected.

    • Jeanette

wow.! you are really ignorant, they aren’t talking about the sport.! They are talking about a guy who got shot.! Leave your dumb comments out of here please no one needs to see them, many people are hurt by his death & this isn’t the time to hear non-sense

You don’t know him, you don’t know his family, it doesn’t give you the right to judge him and his sister in that way , when u you know nothing about them.he wasn tinvolved In gangs and neither was his sister. They are both really nice people and u don’t know anything. How shallow can u be. So next time I suggest u stay out of something you know nothing about and keep your comments to yourself.
