Caught On Tape: Teen Girl Brutally Beaten, Robbed For Her Cell Phone
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Police need the public’s help in identifying the man who brutally beat an 18-year-old woman in the lobby of her apartment building and robbed her.
Police say a woman returning to her apartment in the area of Westmoreland and 11th Street was attacked around 10:10 p.m. Sunday. The man approached the woman from behind, put her in a headlock and tried to grab her cell phone.
When she resisted, he slammed her to the ground and punched her several times in the face and stomach, according to police. He tried to take her purse but instead took her cell phone.
Police say that as the man walked away, the woman ran after him and tried to take her phone back. He turned around, punched her several more times in the face then walked out the lobby door.
Detectives have posted surveillance video of the brutal attack online in an effort to identify the man.
The suspect is described as a male Hispanic between 25-35 years old, about 5 foot 5 inches tall and between 180 and 200 pounds. He wore jeans, a white T-shirt with black printing on the front and back of the shirt and black shoes.
