Retired San Diego Sheriff's Deputy Missing, Last Seen In Downey

DOWNEY (CBS) — A retired San Diego Sheriff's deputy with schizophrenia has gone missing, and his family is asking for the public's help to find him.

Larry Everett Starks, 69, is in urgent need of medication and needs to be in a doctor's care, his daughter Kiersten Carlin says.

Starks, who is 6 foot 2 and has a beard, was recently found homeless in Downey and was taken to Kaiser to be treated for medical conditions. He was last seen on Friday, in Downey near Kaiser wearing a blue sweat suit and dark-colored windbreaker.

Starks told his hospital social worker he frequents the Norwalk Square, Montebello, Downey, Whittier and surrounding cities.

Carlin says the family is offering a reward for information leading to Starks' safe return.

Anyone with information on Starks' whereabouts can call Downey Police at (562) 861-0771.
