LOS ANGELES (CBS) — An attorney has been appointed for the mother of the man suspected of setting dozens of fires in Hollywood over the holidays.

Dorothee Burkhart, 53, is facing several fraud charges in Germany.

She will remain jailed without bail until another court hearing on Jan. 25.

Her son, Harry Burkhart, is charged with 37 counts of arson in connection with more than 50 fires that were set across Los Angeles and Hollywood over the holidays.

Authorities in Canada are also investigating whether 24-year-old Burkhart, who is being held on $3 million bail, is responsible for a series of arson fires there.
