Deaf Puppy 'Harmony' Returned To Owner

MANHATTAN BEACH (CBS) — The deaf puppy known as Harmony who was stolen from her owner's car in Manhattan Beach two days after Christmas has been found, police said Tuesday.

The Lovejoy Foundation, a pet rescue organization, received a call about 6:30 p.m. Monday from a man named Eric who said he had the pit bull-boxer mix.

Eric reported the dog had been found by a family member on Hawthorne Boulevard near 116th Street, said Officer Stephanie Martin of the Manhattan Beach Department.

Harmony's owner and the director of the Lovejoy Foundation drove to the Lennox area where they met Eric, who reunited Harmony with her owner.

Manhattan Beach police went to Harmony's home in Hermosa Beach about 9 p.m. Monday and saw that Harmony had suffered injuries that looked like burns and bites. He may have been involved in a fight with another dog.

Harmony was reported stolen by Patrick and Shayla Thomasson on Dec. 27.

The Thomassons parked their car outside the Manhattan Village Shopping Center that morning. Thieves allegedly jimmied a car door lock and made off with an iPad gift card and the dog.

"It kind of felt like the world dropped," said Shayla, in an earlier interview about the missing pup.

The Thomassons also had a canine special needs companion named Bella, a terrier who could lead Harmony around. Bella was left behind by the robbers, and the family said she was depressed without Harmony.
