LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A gang member suspected of killing a teenager who was delivering pizzas is expected to make a court appearance Monday.

Jose Beltran is accused in the shooting death of 20-year-old Juan David Vasquez.

Vasquez was shot in the head in what authorities are calling a road-rage incident while driving two co-workers home in the early morning hours of Aug. 7.

The youngest of four children, Vasquez worked two jobs to help support his family. He was a bus boy at one restaurant and delivered pizzas for another.

Beltran, who pleaded not guilty in Vasquez’s death last year, was arrested 12 days later when a witness identified him.

If convicted, he could face the death penalty.

Every driver out there struggles in this area because freeways becomes a battle ground for drivers competing for their “right of way” and expect “respect” from other drivers. When this is not met, some drivers become enraged and resort to violence as a means to “gain respect” or to “teach the other driver(s)” a lesson. By doing so, they transform themselves from just a simple driver into a criminal. Pull your anger back before it pulls you behind bars.
